Types of shutters

Shutters are available in two different materials, real and faux wood. These materials are both hardwearing and look sublime, but they have some important differences.

• Real wood shutters – While the quality real wood is relatively lightweight, wooden shutters are hardwearing and will last for a long time. With such great  benefits available, we recommend using real wood shutters in bedrooms, dining spaces and living rooms, spaces where they can really shine! • uPVC faux wood shutters – Ideal for higher-moisture spaces, including bathrooms and kitchens, they are also resistant to cracking and warping which can happen to wood when wet. Crafted from sturdy uPVC, these shutters can easily withstand daily wear and tear plus splashes, spills and condensation.

Beyond the materials, and owing to the fact they are handmade here in Yorkshire, you can also choose from a variety of styles for your shutters. They are:

• Tier-on-Tier – Tier-on-tier shutters provide a compromise between full height and cafe-style, allowing the top and bottom shutters to function independently for your desired level of privacy and sunlight.

• Full Height – A full height shutter covers the full height of your window, providing total privacy and excellent light control alongside a stylish finish. 

• Cafe-Style – Cafe-style shutters cover the bottom half of your windows, allowing the top half to remain open. This gives you the flexibility to let sunlight in whilst maintaining privacy.
